Mural #12 Otis Redding

One of the myths of black music, one of the greatest singers of all time. A life interrupted at the age of 26 in a plane crash that cost the lives of almost all the members of his road band the Bar-Kays. The two survivors Ben Cauley and James Alexander have performed several times in Porretta. The Porretta Soul Festival was born as a tribute to Otis after Graziano Uliani’s participation in the celebrations of the 20th year of his death in Macon in Georgia. The son, Otis Redding III performed in Porretta in 1996 and 2008. Virtually all the musicians who participated in the recording of his great hits at Stax Records in Memphis, such as Booker T. and The MGs, The Memphis Horns, Isaac Hayes are were guests in Porretta. In 1990 a street was dedicated to him.
